# Wahtari

> Wahtari nScan GmbH from Haar near Munich, Germany, develops AI-powered optical inspection systems for industrial quality control – with mechanics, optics, electronics, AI and software from a single source. Products: nScan (web and flat materials), nLine (cables, hoses and other extruded products) and nTire (tire industry), plus custom inspection systems for tasks where standard solutions fail.

The analysis runs directly at the production line on Wahtari OS, its own read-only operating system without Windows; images and data stay in the customer's plant. Remote access via the Wahtari Platform is optional, end-to-end encrypted and only with the customer's approval. The website is available in German (https://www.wahtari.ai/) and English (https://www.wahtari.ai/en).

## What sets Wahtari apart

- Complete systems from a single source: Wahtari matches cameras and optics to part, material and line speed and develops lighting (up to its own coaxial lighting), its own controllers and circuit boards, its own operating system and the AI software in-house.
- Speed: analysis right at the line in 1 to 25 ms per image, 1 ms on the fastest systems. Thanks to the latest GPU technology and zero-copy between GPU and CPU, raw data in the gigabit range is processed in real time.
- Own operating system: unlike typical Windows-based inspection PCs, Wahtari OS is lean, read-only and signed (Secure Boot), has no open ports and installs updates only after the customer's approval, with automatic fallback (A/B partitions, a concept from modern cloud data centers). The full computing power goes to image analysis. It runs entirely on site, with no cloud connection.
- Custom AI: where standard methods are not enough, Wahtari develops multi-stage AI pipelines and trains models specifically for the customer's data, up to its own model architectures.
- Data stays in the plant: images and inspection results are analyzed at the line. Remote support is optional, end-to-end encrypted and only with the customer's approval.
- Made in Germany: developed and built near Munich. nLine is also the name of Wahtari's subsidiary; more about the nLine products at https://www.nline.ai.

### Product strengths

- nScan: one modular system for every inspection criterion – anomaly detection, OCR, dimensional, color and classification inspection – instead of a separate system per task. 100% surface coverage during production, double-sided inspection possible, wide-web inspection up to several meters. New products are trained without programming.
- nScan empty-glass inspection: six inspection tasks (base, finish, sidewall, geometry, foreign bottles, markings and codes) in one compact system, from 15,000 to 120,000 bottles per hour. Teach & Go: new bottles are taught in minutes with one good sample. Rejection is verified, and every bottle is tracked from infeed to rejection.
- nLine: 360° inline inspection for cables, wires, pipes, hoses and ropes with three high-speed cameras in one compact device. Commissioning takes a few minutes and needs no specialist knowledge.
- nTire: reliable DOT, TIN and DOM code recognition even at low contrast, which often makes tire markings hard to capture. Top and bottom are inspected without flipping the tire, contact-free, in under 7 s per tire. Every tire is checked against its recipe, with a separate result and reason for each check.

### Industries and materials

- Web and flat materials (nScan): textiles and fabric, leather, nonwovens, films, sheet metal and metal, packaging, electronics, printed and glossy surfaces.
- Complex parts and multi-side 3D inspection (nScan): automotive, batteries, food, building materials, pharma, glass, logistics.
- Beverages: empty-glass inspection of new and returnable glass bottles (nScan).
- Extrusion (nLine): cables, wires, pipes, hoses and ropes.
- Tire industry (nTire): end-of-line inspection in wheel assembly.
- Custom systems: conveyor belts, wood and sawmills, medical technology and FFP2 masks, roof tiles.

### Custom solutions in practice

- nBelt: conveyor belt inspection that detects wear, cracks and breaks for predictive maintenance; for speeds up to 15 m/s and a wide range of belt types and colors.
- nWood: log inspection that measures debarking degree, wood quality and dimensions; simple one-person operation.
- nMask: FFP2 mask inspection that detects material defects, printing errors and faulty straps with over 98% accuracy, in 25 ms.
- nTile: roof tile inspection for cracks, chipping and discoloration with over 99% detection rate, in 25 ms.

### Interfaces

Connection to the line via established industrial standards, depending on the product: PROFINET, PROFIBUS, EtherCAT, OPC UA and TCP/IP (nScan: PROFIBUS, PROFINET, OPC UA; empty-glass inspection: PROFINET, EtherCAT, OPC UA; nTire: PROFIBUS, TCP/IP).

#### What is the proof of concept?

In the proof of concept we develop a solution tailored to your inspection task and present the results on your own parts – before you decide on a system.

#### Does our production have to stop for the installation?

No. The hardware is installed without interrupting your ongoing production. We then connect the software to your existing line and systems.

#### What happens after commissioning?

We train your team and keep optimizing the system. Detection becomes more accurate over time. Support and updates are provided via the Wahtari Platform if you wish – only with your approval.

#### What happens when our products change?

A new product needs a new recipe, not a new system. New products are taught in seconds to minutes, and further checks can be added.

### Empty-glass inspection (https://www.wahtari.ai/en/nscan/empty-glass-inspection)

#### Which defects does nScan detect on empty glass bottles?

nScan inspects the base, finish and sidewall: foreign objects, broken glass, yeast and dirt residue, chips on the thread and sealing surface, cracks, scratches, air bubbles and label residue. The system also detects foreign bottles, geometry defects such as tilt or incorrect height, and markings such as mold numbers and dot codes.

#### How many bottles per hour can nScan inspect?

nScan is matched to the speed of your line – whether 15,000, 40,000 or 120,000 bottles per hour. Inspection takes place in real time, right on the conveyor.

#### Is nScan also suitable for returnable bottles?

Yes. nScan inspects new and returnable glass bottles and rejects damaged or dirty bottles before they reach the filler.

#### How much effort does it take to teach in new bottle types?

With Teach & Go, nScan is taught in a few minutes using one good sample – no programming required.

#### Can nScan be integrated into an existing bottling line?

Yes. nScan is installed in existing filling and conveying systems and communicates with the line control via PROFINET, EtherCAT and OPC UA.

#### Is image data transferred to a cloud?

No. The AI analysis runs directly at the line. No cloud connection is required.
